Sunday was my recoup day as the past three days had been very eventful with late nights and early mornings. It started off with a lazy sunday morning of a late breakfast and some reading. At around noon I got super hungry and ventured off with Annie and Maggie to the nearest restaurant. I ordered pizza, it was delicious.
I was feeling restless though and wanted to take on the day. I had told myself I would rent a scooter and drive around town/outside of town. But on my walk to the rental store I got distracted. First, by banana cheese cake which was heaven. (If you know me, I absolutely love cheese cake, it's my guilty pleasure). After, that small hiccup, I got distracted by this multicoloured elephant outside of a store. I was curious so I took a look inside. Turns out it was a foundation/store that was trying to help elephants, and one injured one called Musha in particular. I walked around and when I reached the next display room they had plain, small elephants on artist wheels with paint. The lady asked my if I wanted to paint, and how could I say no. I spent the next four hours there painting my elephant. I tried to make the colour as realistic as possible, but it doesn't really do an elephant justice. It was the perfect afternoon for my Sunday.
To end off the day, we went out with all the new volunteers who had arrived today (two from Australia and four from the USA). We went to the Sunday Market and walked around, sharing stories and laughing lots. It was a great evening!
