Date of Workshop: May 23rd, 2016
Location: Juvenile Detention Centre
Number of Participants: number to be determined
Workshop duration: 2 hours
Concept of Workshop:
The concept is for participants to be able to express their aspirations, desires and what they would like to see in their future. The inspiration for this lesson is based from something that was seen while walking in the night market. It is beneficial for these boys because it is important to have goals and aspirations, it is also important to be aware of what you want in life. This also gives them the opportunity to display what they are proud of and what they love, it gives them a hope for the future.
Objectives of Workshop:
- Understand what they would like to achieve in the future (goals).

Painting Clothespins and making Decorations
A brief description of what we will be making.
Hand out a piece of string to each person.
Next hand out 3-8 clothespins. They can paint the clothespins however they would like. They can decorate them with glitter or paint.
During this time they can also create different decorations like paper bows, or other things (cars, pipe cleaner men, anything). They can also make braids or choose string that they would like to wrap around.
45 minutes
They can also add different decorations like paper bows, glitter, other colourful strings (braids) etc.
Picture Time
While the paint (clothespins and decorations) is drying, they can begin looking for pictures in the magazines.
They can either choose individual pictures or they can create a collage. If they have time they can even draw or paint pictures.
Once they have chosen their pictures/ made a collage, they can glue it onto a piece of cardboard (using stick glue) and cut out around them. This will allow them to have a strong, sturdy back.
45 minutes
Clean up
Once everyone is finished it will be time to clean up.
